The ComfySpace Philosophy
Building tools for tinkerers — the goal is to allow people to build things with a sense of optimism.
The Name
ComfySpace started as a mobile app — a universal remote control for hobbyist robots. It took 1.5 years to build. Along the way, it spawned a scripting language, starter projects, and a community of young builders.
The name stuck because it captures what the work is about: making technology comfortable — accessible, approachable, and fun.
The Core Beliefs
1. Accessibility Over Scale
A model that a 5-year-old can run on a $15 Raspberry Pi is more important than a model that costs billions to train. The next generation of builders are 5 years old now — they need tools they can actually use.
2. Open Over Closed
All codes, datasets, model weights, and budgets are shared openly. If someone can replicate or improve an experiment, they should. That's how progress works.
3. Just Do Things
There's no guarantee of success. Most intelligent models are large. A handful of small models have proven "kinda dumb." But the experiments keep going — not because they're easy, but because they're important.
4. Building is the Point
The best part of Bentobot wasn't the magazine feature — it was 100 people playing robot fights from their beds. The best part of Arcadia wasn't the architecture — it was 400 people drawing for each other. The best part of CADMonkey wasn't the benchmark — it was someone making a duck.
What This Looks Like
- A YouTube channel that makes complex projects simple
- Experiments that cost $20 instead of $20,000
- A 13-year-old in Canada using your app to control his robot
- A volunteer contributor who joins because she believes in the mission
- GPU sponsors who give credits because the work matters
The Future
ComfySpace is growing. More experiments, more tools, more robots, more models. The goal stays the same: build things that help people build things. With optimism.
